The history of Sóller

Naturetrips’ office is located in the town of Sóller, which also has a rich history dating back to 3500-2500 BC, until Christianity came to the island in 1229-1232.

In the period between these many years, the island has been visited by pirates, the Roman Empire, and Arabs, among others, each of which has left its mark on the town of Sóller and the port town of Port de Sóller.

The different periods throughout history have not only left visible historical remains from the Roman Empire’s infrastructure, buildings, etc., but have also left a clear mark on the natural historical development of the Sóller Valley.

Sóller’s botanical garden also offers exhibitions with prehistoric animals in the form of various skeletons, fossils, and a collection of, among other things, protected and medicinal plants from several of the islands in the Mediterranean.
